Nasal Pillows
Nasal pillows have become a popular nasal mask option for many CPAP and Bi-Level users. Nasal pillows consist of a silicone puff that easily occludes and seals the outside of the nostril. They provide an unobtrusive line of vision and can sometimes feel less claustrophobic for users as compared to nasal or full face masks. The frame designs for nasal pillow are very minimal which can allow for multiple sleeping positions. Many stomach sleepers find nasal pillows work best for them.
Nasal Masks
Nasal mask designs have improved over the recent years. Some use a gel or floating cushion while others incorporate a minimal frame design. These masks are equipped with a triangular shape to cover the nose. Whitney Sleep Center staff uses their numerous years of experience to properly fit the right mask for the right person.
Full Face Masks
For CPAP and Bi-Level users who have difficulty breathing through their nose or mouth, full face masks can be an easy solution. Full face masks cover the nose or mouth allowing the user to breathe through the other. They are also available in a variety of designs.
At Home Machine
CPAP, or continuous positive airway pressure, is the most effective form of treatment for sleep apnea. CPAP machines work by delivering positive air pressure via a mask that a patient wears. The positive pressure creates a stinting effect on the airway. CPAP machines are most often used in conjunction with a heated humidifier. They are lightweight, portable and are very quiet, creating a white-noise type of sound.
